Structured data, not a spreadsheet dump.
Because every transaction in Cobalt points back to proper master data, your exports are consistent and easy for an accountant to import.
- Sales invoices — export your sales invoices with customers, lines, totals and VAT.
- Purchase invoices — export supplier invoices with the matched purchase and receipt context.
- Customers, suppliers & products — export your master data so codes and names line up cleanly.
- VAT-ready invoices — VAT is applied on invoices as you trade, so the figures are ready for your accountant to review and file.
- CSV exports — download clean CSVs you can hand over or import into your accounting tool.
- Xero and QuickBooks connect directly — link the account and push a journal or a date range. Sage and other tools import from a mapped CSV preset.
Clean handoff saves everyone time.
Accountants spend hours untangling inconsistent spreadsheets. Structured operational data turns that into a quick, tidy import.
When customers, suppliers and products are real records — not free text — your exports are consistent and reconcilable.
Every invoice links to its order, receipt and customer, so your accountant can trace anything in minutes.
Your books become a by-product of trading instead of a scramble to reconstruct what happened.
What Cobalt does — and doesn't — do.
We're deliberately clear about this.
Cobalt gives you operational financial visibility (invoice and payment status, outstanding balances) and VAT-ready invoice data and export-ready financial records. It is not a full statutory accounting or legal-compliance replacement, and it doesn't file your VAT return. Keep your accountant and your accounting tool — Cobalt just makes the handoff clean. Frequently asked questions.
Does Cobalt replace my accountant or accounting software?
No. Cobalt is operational ERP — sales, purchasing, stock and invoicing — and gives your accountant clean, export-ready data. You keep your accountant and your accounting tool for statutory accounts and filing.
What can I export for my accountant?
Sales invoices, purchase invoices, customers, suppliers and products, plus VAT-ready invoice data — all as clean CSV files.
Are the invoices VAT-ready?
Yes. VAT is applied to invoices as you trade, so the figures are ready for your accountant to review and file. Cobalt does not file the VAT return itself.
Will the exports work with Xero or QuickBooks?
Xero and QuickBooks connect directly: authorise the account, map your nominal codes, then push a single journal or a whole date range, with a log of what went over. Sage and any other package import from a mapped CSV preset instead, so you are never blocked on a connector we have not built.
Why does master data make handoff better?
Because every transaction references proper customer, supplier and product records, your exports are consistent and reconcilable — far easier for an accountant to import than free-text spreadsheets.
Does Cobalt do full double-entry statutory accounting?
Not as a replacement for your accounting software. Cobalt focuses on operational finance visibility and clean handoff; statutory accounts and filing stay with your accountant.
