Small operations were sold the wrong shape of software.
One core, live in a week, built for businesses this size.
A business turning over a few million runs the same processes as one turning over a few hundred million. What it does not have is a team of people to keep four systems agreeing with each other.
Small operations were sold the wrong shape of software.
A business turning over a few million pounds runs the same processes as one turning over a few hundred million — quotes, orders, stock, receipts, invoices, a ledger. What it does not have is a team of people to keep four systems agreeing with each other.
So the small operation gets one of two answers. Either an ERP built for the large one, sold with a six-month implementation and a consultant on retainer, or a stack of point tools — accounting here, inventory there, promised dates in a spreadsheet, customer orders in a shared inbox — where every number that matters is a join across systems, done by hand, by the person who can least afford the time.
Cobalt ERP is the third answer: one operational core, live in under a week, with an intelligence layer that does the joining. Not an ERP with a chatbot attached — a system where the reasoning sits inside every record, reads the live ledger, works out what needs a person, and prepares the work.
Four positions we are not moving off.
Evidence, or it did not happen
Every answer cites the records it read and says whether a figure was calculated, ruled, extracted or generated. Software that asserts without showing its working is not usable for a ledger.
Autonomy is granted, never taken
Nothing is promoted up the autonomy ladder on your behalf. Every rung is admitted by a person, one capability at a time, with caps and a kill switch.
No lock-in
Export every record, use the API, leave when you want. A product that keeps customers by making leaving painful is not a product anyone should build.
Live in under a week
If the software needs half a year of consultants before it does anything, it is the wrong software for a business this size.
Pre-launch, and saying so.
Cobalt ERP is not generally available yet. Teams are running it through an early-access programme, the wholesale and distribution pack is the most mature part of the product, and the in-app ledger is in beta. The rest of the site tells you which is which rather than presenting everything as shipped.
